Kaitlyn and Gavin, now the Wallace’s, originally planned to get married in their hometown of New Jersey. Thanks to COVID, their rescheduled celebration pushed them to tie the knot on their original date in their new home city. Their Charlotte micro wedding took place at a well-known steakhouse, Del Frescos. They had an intimate ceremony and cocktail hour out in the green courtyard.
This Charlotte micro wedding day began with a first look in South End. Kaitlyn said she envisioned herself seeing Gavin for the first time along the beautiful brick walls that the space offered. So we did just that. Once Gavin picked his jaw off the ground after seeing his bride for the first time, we ventured around South End to document couple portraits. Although the city was not at all empty, the focus was only on Kaitlyn and Gavin.
My favorite part about the Wallace’s Charlotte micro wedding had to be Kaitlyn’s uncle’s toast to her father, who passed during 9/11. It was sentimental, light hearted, kind, and witty. The speech ended with a cheers, of only Heineken beer, to honor her father.
Although this year was nothing like Kaitlyn and Gavin planned, I can say that they rolled with the punches with grace and elegance. They know the meaning of marriage is not always full of dance parties and sparklier exits, but with close family in friends under the one God who lead them to this moment. After eight years of dating and being in love, Kaitlyn and Gavin are married – that is all that matters.
