I went to high school with Lexie and Tom as some of ya’ll might already know from How He Asked. Since we were only acquaintances in high school, I never fathomed that I would be given the opportunity to capture their wedding.

Honestly, I didn’t think I would be Lexis top choice because I knew the other photographers she was considering. They were both big names in the area and people I genuinely look up to and admire. Knowing I was even considered was surreal.

I distinctly remember when I got the text from Lexie saying she chose me, I just fell to the ground in praise – feeling blessed and honored and humbled. I was not only excited to be apart of their next chapter, but also excited for them to be apart of my journey as a photographer.

When their day came, I was very expectant and faithful in the Lord that he would show up and move me and the couple. The Lord provided for their day by clearing up the stormy skies. We captured so many great moments but I had two equally favorite moments from this day.

Originally, Tom and Lexie were going to have their first look completely alone – without anyone (including a photographer) present. However, at the last minute Tom decided that I would be allowed to be present and document their first look from afar. With all decorations set in their ceremony space, Tom awaited to be tapped on the shoulder by Lexie after walking down the aisle where 100s of guests would be watching her in just a couple hours. They chose to see each other for the first time with empty gold chairs, cross hanging and vows exchanged before anyone else stepped into the ceremony space. It was perfect.

My other most memorable moment was after all the wedding party portraits were taken, Tom brought Lexie into a secluded room and got down on his knees to wash her feet just like Jesus washed His disciples feet. With eyes watering and a sense of relief exhaled, Lexie was overcome with a grateful heart, as her almost husband served her and cleaned her feet while the Lord held both of them so tight.

This Ballantyne Hotel Wedding ended with lots of laughter, many tears and endless dance moves. I could not have asked for a better couple to finish off 2019 with or a better community to cheer me on throughout the day. Here is to the Crouch’s beginning their first year of marriage in the roaring 20s.
