On October 5, 2018, I shot Abbey and William’s engagement session. On January 22, 2019, Abbey asked me to be her wedding photographer. I have been looking forward to this day ever since. Last fall was the peak of my growth as a photographer which is why I still look through their engagement session. Also, I just love reminiscing on the two hours that I spent with Abbey and William. Not only did they get in the pond fully clothed, but they swam to the other side so I could shoot from above on a bridge. Not only did they get into the water one time but I asked them to go back in because we still had left over champagne and confetti to capture. There was no hesitation from them. And without even queuing him, William carried Abbey out of the water and it was just so touching and perfect for a picture. That day made my heart swoon and I prayed that I would get to be a part of their wedding day.
Going into this day, I was expectant of the presence of Jesus. Even all of my friends and family knew that this was going to be one of the most special weddings I would be a part of as a photographer. Abbey and William are the epitome of my ideal couple. Not just because they are so photogenic and easy going, but because they love the Lord more than they love each other. They have something that I pray to have one day. It is inspiring and makes me hopeful to know there are still such good souls out there and Jesus is still working in all of our hearts through and through.
I was prepared and knew the Lord would be evident this day. He would calm the nerves of everyone who walked in and out of that church. But of course it begins to pour after a month of sunny skies! Although I was a bit nervous, I was at peace. I knew the Lord would shine His light and pause the rain on His time. And He did.
Letters were exchanged, ties were adjusted, jewelry was on, hair and makeup was done, boutonnieres were pinned and a cheers of Whiskey were made to William’s father who is still celebrating in heaven.
I felt a true calling to capture their wedding. I knew a lot of people that attended the wedding from my high school years. But honestly, I wasn’t focused catching up with people, rather I was focused on what I was seeing through my lens. I was just so focused on them and the moments that the guests were experiencing.
The night ended with A&W beers (get it? Abbey and William?) handed out to the guests with photos from their engagement shoot was on them. I loved seeing my work used in such creative ways. You bet I am keeping that beer forever and ever.
