It seems impossible to walk by faith in the godless society we live in. You are not the only one who has thought that having faith in Christ may be too unreasonable in your life. God’s servants like Abraham, Joseph, Noah and Moses all doubted the goodness of God, but fought their demonic thoughts and walked by faith. They were rewarded.

Hebrews 11:29 – “It was by faith that the people of Israel went right through the Red Sea as though they were on dry ground.”

What does walking by faith mean? Hebrews 11 describes faith as the evidence of the things we cannot see. 2 Corinthians 5:7, tells us that we are called to walk by faith and not by sight.

Faith is not a feeling. 1 Peter 1:8-9 says, “You love him even though you have never seen him. Though you do not see him now, you trust him; and you rejoice with a glorious, inexpressible joy. The reward for trusting him will be the salvation of your souls.” Faith is the power of believing, the ability to see things through God’s eyes and the choice to trust God even when life does not seem to make sense. Faith is trusting God’s calling for you which may require you to leave something or someone behind in order to walk by faith towards God. The book of James says, “faith is dead without good works.” We are called to put faith into action because without good deeds, faith is useless. Do not go back to your old ways. Love each other with a heart of God’s love, grace and mercy. God calls us to be holy because he is holy.

Abraham left his home to travel to a new land because God simply told him to. Through faith, “he went without knowing where he was going.” (Hebrews 11:8)

Faith is a marathon. Faith is not a sprint, but rather a test of your endurance. Think of Christianity as exercise. You can’t just workout once and think you will lose weight. You have to continue to exercise and mold it into your lifestyle in order to get the desired results. Likewise, devote proper nourishment by spending time in the Word, dive deeper into your prayer life, build a stronger relationship with God and fellow Christians, exercise self-control when faced with temptation and trust in God when you are confronted with crisis. Choose to walk purposefully rather than with comfort. Faith requires daily practice in the Christian life. You must press onto maturity in Christ and persevere in order to grasp a constant source of encouragement. God rewards those who seek Him.  You have to continue exercising your faith in God in order to mature, grow and receive God’s reward.

Hebrews 12:1 – “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race of God has set before us.”

Before Jesus died on the cross, bearing all our sins, we had no identity. Since we personally carried each and every one of our sins, we are dead to sin. Now, we find our identification in Christ. And with that comes suffering. So be expectant, prepare your hearts and minds, respond by trusting God and wait for His blessing. For after you have endured suffering, you will be restored. The Lord knows exactly how and when to rescue you from your trials.

1 Peter 4:19 – “So if you are suffering in a manner that pleased God, keep on doing what is right, and trust your lives to the God who created you, for he will never fail you.”

God told us that although life would bring troubles, we are able to find peace in Him. When you find yourself in a crisis, “be glad for these trials make you partners with Christ in his suffering (1 Peter 4:13). Trials are learning opportunities and a chance for you to stretch your faith. Make the most out of your problems, for “God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them” (Romans 8:28). Be joyful when troubles come your way because it is a chance to grow your endurance, gain a new perspective and prove that you have faith in God alone. The days when you are confronted with challenges that seem impossible to overcome, in a world of demonic practices, are the days that show how genuine your faith is. In times of trials, when your faith remains resilient, it will bring praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world (1 Peter 1:7).

Take time to reflect on your daily walk with God. I pray that you truly walk by faith and follow Him. I pray that the Lord will bring you peace, prosperity, hope and excitement when you lean towards His uncertain destination which He has prepared for you.
